Darkness Over Cumbria – Summer Edition, Saturday

Saturday was a wetter day than Friday but this didn’t dampen peoples spirits.

Decimated Cross hail from the Midlands. They played a simple but effective Black Metal.

Extort hail from Scotland and their music blends many sub-genres into an exciting whole. One of their guitarists hails from Ukraine so, during a song she wrote, the Ukrainian flag was waved in the audience. Their merch also included fund-raising items.

Next on were Stahlsarg. When I have seen them before, they have always seemed a solid middle-order band. They have been invigorated, with a new line-up and new songs and have definitely upped their game.

Following them were Welsh Black Metallers, Defod, who played a good set.

Next up were Necro Ritual, whose Black Metal went down well with the audience.

Nemorous brought an English feel to the Black Metal they played, unsurprisingly as their roots are in the sorely missed Wodensthrone.

Old favourites Wolfbastard played one of their good sets, with drummer Rob from Foetal Juice standing in for Dave for the next few gigs.

The aforementioned Foetal Juice came on next, playing an entertaining death metal set.

Final band of the day were Heathen Deity. They demonstrated why they are good headline band, rounding off the evening’s music.
