Hastings Bonfire

Hastings celebrated Bonfire at the end of Hastings week, in October. For those of you from outside Sussex, Bonfire is a slightly different take on the winter bonefires to those celebrated across the land on 5th November. It celebrates the Protestant martyrs burnt at the stake in Lewes at Bloody Mary’s (Mary I) insistence rather than the Catholic terrorist plot to blow up King and Parliament in the next century.
