Thursday evening in Eastbourne and I am heading to the Grove Theatre for a gig. Ahrtemisia Nathair is playing and it’s been a while since I have caught up with them. They are first up with the harp and a backing track, a long flowing white dress and corpsepaint. The backing track complements the harp, sometimes folky, sometimes with Black Metal undertones. Ahrty has grown in confidence since I last saw them in November and the set was well received.
Second on were Bovril Latrine, whose energetic jazz infused rock got the room moving. They are a drummer and a six-string bassist/vocalist.
Headline band, Lazarus Lake, jogged in to start their set, after having changed out of their boiler suits. Whilst not as excitable as Bovril Latrine, they managed to hold their own and bring the evening to a suitable close.
